Trapped in Glass.

A Villanelle of Regret.

By Cathy (Christine Acheini) Ben-Ameh.Published 4 months ago 1 min read

She stole my shirt to cage his heart in glass,
The navy blue that held the love he knew,
I walk through life, yet shadows never pass.

One night’s refuge, trust offered meant to last,
Her smile a snare, her whispers spun a rue,
She stole my shirt to cage his heart in glass.

He loved me once, but now that spell is cast,
Her fingers wore my skin, turned warm to cold and new,
I walk through life, yet shadows never pass.

I fled for safety, thinking grief would pass,
But navy threads betray the theft I rue,
She stole my shirt to cage his heart in glass.

I wish he saw the trap, the treachery vast,
The way she shifted love, until mine withdrew,
I walk through life, yet shadows never pass.

Now free I stand, yet some regrets amass,
A stolen heart, a love that she subdued,
She stole my shirt to cage his heart in glass,
I walk through life, yet shadows never pass.
