Translucent

Color of a Sound

By Kailin DoucettePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

What is the color of a sound; translucent as the air that gives it life?

Is it possible notes carried on breath have the power to emit UV light?

It is likely the vibrant vision lives only in my singer mind’s eye.

A reality so lovely is best shared; I present my meager attempt to describe.

The force I feel as tonalities flow from my voice and past my teeth,

As they bathe my ear’s swatches in a vivid pallet of pleasantries.

My lips may as well be drenched blood, red from the sultry deep ring of B3.

Intensity matched only by bright, neon mezzo streaks belted boldly,

Creating a melodic lightning storm of vibrant magenta and teal.

Pastel light radiantly glows from heavenly keys: soft pink, yellow, green.

The brush stroke of my bravado delicately blurs the lines of sound and color.

Though sound may be translucent, my voice paints a brilliant display of wonder.
