I open my eyes and all is black,
My life has known nothing but lack,
Everything I’ve tried to achieve,
Seems to amplify all my needs.
It is so dark I cannot see,
Black, I wish you would leave me,
You strangle and you suffocate,
Tell me that this is not my fate.
I ask for help to change my plight,
Because I can’t continue this fight,
And through the dark I see a light,
The essence of the color, white.
You’re so bright and filled with love,
Like gentle cooing of a dove,
In your presence I start to mend,
I’m thankful that I’m whole again.
