Toxic

it's experience

By Ria Published 4 years ago 1 min read

Within the whispers // The lies they convince of themselves

Crumbling from the sun// It rains down hard

Like the utterance of an apology// But never sounding like one

Clashing in form// Words tasting bitter as you hear them.

Knowing that they are opposites that do not attract.

Who in their mind would put up would such negative winds.

Don't try to change them// it runs deep

The thought of perfection obtained.

Seeing only cracks from the outside in// It's like yelling into empty space

Speaking to a blank wall// Words bounce back

Why try// Pointless in effort.

Breath better spent Breathing.

Waste not on the difficult // things such as these were meant to be easy.

This just passed the empty space between their ears// as did most other ideas.

But they know- toxic attracts toxic// toxic can invade anywhere.

Seeping into systems trying to improve// Struggling already.

Take your bated breath// the strongest weapon you have.

No match for such decisive, devisive decision-making.

It's from experience we speak- being surrounded by those who wish to drag us into their own toxic pit// One by one we knelt// submitting to their will

Too fragile// too docile in will to Breathe.

But finally stopping to Breathe// Not allowing them to pile and pile// Their secrets// their vague threats of deceit.

Eventually, all vanished// no longer hearing the whispers// looking over to see some bright crumble// But having to accept that there will never come a real apology.

Words no longer taste bitter to hear// the easy feeling crawling back into sight// it's all so much more tolerable.
