Tough

You call me

'Bitch'

'Whore'

'Cunt'

Men you belittle are

'Pussies'

'Douche-bags'

'Fairies'

When did the female gender become the best-worst you can call someone?

'Fuck you' (?)

'Fuck me' (?)

Make up your mind, dude. (?)

Do you wanna or not?

Which is supposed to make me feel bad?

Odds are good

(caesarians aside)

That you were in a vagina at least once.

So many of you are focused on getting back in there as much as possible.

I don't think it is trauma from that that stokes your rage.

Mr. Rogers sung that

"Some are fancy on the outside/some are fancy on the inside"

You resent the secret, don't you?

You envy the internal magic that brings

Life

Pleasure

Blood that doesn't kill us

Pain that we conquer

You have no hidden joys and secrets.

You fear raising a cuckoo, don't you?

You lack the assurance we have that those we bear truly came from us.

I sit across from you

Quiet

Demure

Slight smile

Hushed 'tut-tut'.

Butter? Wouldn't melt in my mouth.

Does it shock you, these thoughts?

This language?

Me using the words that I have heard thrown about my whole life?

Tough.

I love this. A lot of people use profanity for shock value or with minimal meaning. Here it is essential to the meaning of this poetry. ⚡💙⚡

There is a fabulous female peer of Sigmund Freud, Karen Horney - who argues against penis envy. Women don't envy the penis, the envy the societal status of men. Whereas men really do envy women's ability to give birth. This poem reminds me of her work. And that we should probably all know about her.

Fear of the unknown or what they cannot control fuels bully type behaviour. Ignorance as well. You spelled this out perfectly. This is a great line: ‘ When did the female gender become the best-worst you can call someone?’

A bold poem challenging misogynistic language and celebrating female strength

  • Bold, strong, shocking, and truthful! Good work, Judey!

  • FABULOUS!

  • Holy shit. This says it all so perfectly. And from my heart to theirs. No more. If they don't like it. It is indeed tough.
