Total Immersion

A Sonnet

What sort of story would be required

To immerse you completely in itself?

Would being given all you desired

Work, or would that leave too much on the shelf?

Do works of art fulfill our desires?

Instead, do the most powerful of them

Put out old flames and start strange, new fires?

Do we often mistake garment for hem?

Can a story teach us to want new things?

Beauty or truth or goodness or wisdom;

Imagine sheet music that, itself, sings

That's what goes on, in narrative's kingdom

Do totally immersive narratives

Teach us to live in new worlds like natives?

Sonnet

    Ah, Narrative's kingdom is a nice spot. I have to echo Shaun here, you manage to set some fires with your pieces!
