Taking refuge
In the library today
An obscure corner advertised
Peace and tranquility
Quiet studious focus
Engaged in battle with
My splitting head
Gallant knight rescue
Twinkling, mirthful eye
Advil bottle in hand
Though kindly refusing
A friendly embrace
Public professionalism
Scion of grace
Above reproach
Infinitely grateful
For his kindness
Gazing out on city bustle
Musing over many
Friendships with men
Solace in brothers
Among wolves
How many times
Has joy
Been misconstrued
Smile too big
Heart too full
Mannerisms tallied must equal
Slutty intentions
(Not a bad word
Upon reclamation!)
Did you know
Good men
Make great friends
Especially if you
Also like women
In that way
Though it might be true
Pals secretly wish
To touch exciting bits
Time smudges desire
Giving way to
Comfort, jokes
Advice flowing freely
In both directions
Warm light cueing me
To exit stage right
Wry realization dawning
I had settled in
Most comfortable hiding
Amongst tales of
Jezebels and harlots
Ironic… I think?
Still working that out
About the Creator

In love with life and all of its foibles.

I love how you've spun together the simple act of seeking refuge in a library with deeper reflections on friendship and misunderstood intentions.
