Too Much Homework

A Poem

By Mother CombsPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Kids today have it easy

All their schoolwork is on the computer

When I was a kid

We had to bring home every subject

Math, English, Science, History,

Art, Music, and PE too

We had to do pages and pages

Of numbers and definitions

Writing essay after essay

While today’s kids have it easy

They just have to enter a few

Ticks in a few checkboxes

Select A, B, or C

Write a short paragraph

All on a Chromebook that the school provides

It’s so easy, they never bring work home anymore

It’s crazy as all hell

TRUTH! Are we changing to dummy it down and make it easy, reward any little step so they see no drama, no difficulty to become stronger?

  • We had tons of homework too. It was a nightmare. And we don't have lockers here at school. So we had to carry everything to school and back home even if there's no homework. Loved your poem!

I fund it extremely annoying when they never have homework which I can see. Good old pen and paper makes us dinosaurs they say. Feisty bunch. Still, I think that we were better off knowing the value of figuring it out for ourselves, Maybe....

  • It's leading to helpless young humans. They need a phone to survive now. I remember walking with a satchel of heavy books home. I am pre back pack era.
