Too Close Yet Too Far (Reposted)

He grabbed my lapels

His knuckles on my chest

Can he feel how fast my heart is beating?

Can he feel it pounding against his knuckles?

He's having trouble speaking

Is he as nervous as I am?

Does he feel that same odd feeling?

The need to both be close

and be as far away as possible?

I think he does

So I step back

but then he says I'm making it harder

So he pulls me back

and I don't resist

but then I fall into him

Now we're too close again

There's not one part of my body that you are comfortable touching

You're trying your best to be so careful

And I feel guilty for it
