Tomorrow's World

What will come?

By C. D. GuzmanPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

When I get out, I often wonder how.

The world outside has changed by now.

In this cell, time stands still,

while beyond these walls, life's a thrill.

I hear of changes, wild and grand,

a future bright in a distant land.

Stories reach me, whispers, rumors.

Of strange new things and curious rumors.

Will the cities shine with neon lights?

Will the nights be filled with wondrous sights?

I dream of gadgets, sleek and smart,

of art and music, a thriving heart.

What new foods will tempt my taste?

What styles and trends, what frantic pace?

The world's evolved while I’ve been away.

I long to see it, come what may.

Will the streets be filled with electric cars,

silent whispers beneath the stars?

Will robots serve in every shop?

Has progress reached a fevered top?

Yet, beyond the marvels, deep inside,

I fear the change, the shifting tide.

Will I fit in, find my place,

in a world transformed, a frantic race?

But hope burns bright within my soul,

for freedom’s touch will make me whole.

To see the world, anew, reborn,

and leave behind this place forlorn.

When I get out, I’ll embrace the new,

with open eyes, a wider view.

No more walls, just endless sky.

A second chance, to live, to fly.
