Today I Still Believe

Yesterday...

By Heather HollandPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

They say the past is the past

It’s better off gone

There’s nothing you can do to change it

Best to leave it alone

I say we better recognize

If we don’t, it could lead to our demise

Oh, yesterday was chaos

Led by the hand of tyranny

I can’t believe the words I’m hearing

Can’t believe the things I’ve seen

Yesterday was disappointment

But today I still believe

They say freedom isn’t free

Thank a soldier for it

There’s a price that we all pay to claim

Its privilege for a bit

I say we all choose our own chains

Freedom is the spoils of what remains

Oh, yesterday was chaos

Led by the hand of tyranny

I can’t believe the words I’m hearing

Can’t believe the things I’ve seen

Yesterday was disappointment

But today I still believe

They say heartache’s a dime a dozen

Love again to get your fix

Wait around awhile you’ll find it

With its kiss upon your lips

I say believe in love at any cost

Without it we are surely lost

Oh, yesterday was chaos

Led by the hand of tyranny

I can’t believe the words I’m hearing

Can’t believe the things I’ve seen

Yesterday was disappointment

But today I still believe

Oh, yesterday was disappointment

But today I still believe!
