Today I dreamt of a world in colour

Maybe we will no longer have to colour in a better world, but just wake up to one.

Today I dreamt of a world in colour

Where the ocean was blue

And deep enough to discover

That life could still breathe

On the other side

Even when mama said

It was greener on our side

Where the leaves had fallen

And sparkled on the surface

They’d laid to rest

In such a peaceful service

Served its purpose

Left with no purpose

Instead—

Left our water tainted brown

From camouflaged leaves

That faked our surface green

Where life was suffocating to breathe

What mama didn’t tell me was

Life was really greener on their side

We were tattooed lies

In hopes one day

We’d open our eyes

And instead—

Wake up to colour
