Yesterday is gone, and thank thee God it is

Can't see tomorrow cuz today I'm gonna live

I'm gonna be the bird I always wanted to be

L'il hummingbird sippin' nectar from a tree

Yeah, I said tree...cuz I'm that kinda bird

Be what I wanna be, TODAY, ain't you heard

You may think I a tiny bird, not much to do or say

Many are fooled who tend to capture me this way

Hummingbirds are tiny, petit, compact, yea, small

In their minds, they're gargantuan

Ten feet seven inches tall

All aflutter busy, busy me

All Aflutter buzzy, buzzy me

Why so much fuss by one so spectacularly wee?

Cuz

I can soar toward the sky, dive toward the sea

Sip all the nectar out of life as if it were forever free

So, of course, I can sip God's nectar from a big ass tree

Today, I'm a hummingbird. Tomorrow? Who knows what I'll be
