Today

Is neither yesterday nor tomorrow

By Violet P. DaviesPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The sun's nearby, obscured or not by cloud

The uniform's clean and fits just the same

The buzzing of a small but mighty crowd

Holds its signature energy, largely tame

Yet everything's more difficult today

~

The beeps' waves are unchanged, but sound much louder

The UV rays attack the puffy eye

E'en through the fog whose cloying layers shroud her,

Which coffee's bitter spike cannot divide

Yes, everything's more difficult today

~

When she speaks, will her listener perceive it?

If she blinks, will time pass where she is blind?

If information strays, can she retrieve it?

Does she know the canals of her own mind?

The odds are not as promising today

~

The sun's nearby, in night just as in day

The people forgive more often than not

Energy is a pendulum; its sway

Will rise and fall, like beeps and lucid thought

Access is limited but for today

inspirational
