To you, with admiration
Letters to the Moon

Dear Moon,
I've been trying to get in touch with you for ages. My time is running short, but I really want to share my story.
It hasn't always been easy. Certain situations made me forget about the people I used to know, who, for reasons I couldn't grasp, tried to take advantage of me. I didn't understand their behaviour at first. The closer I let them get, the more distant they became.
They used me plainly and deliberately. My presence was just a means for them to get what they wanted, disregarding me and focusing solely on their own needs. I just wanted companionship, someone to help soften the crushing weight of loneliness that sometimes felt unbearable. I think they saw that vulnerability, which is why they drew near, exploiting my weaknesses and ultimately destroying my reputation and career. It was terror for me, but perhaps some sort of twisted therapy for them.
Unfortunately, they weren't very lucky. Despite my initial lack of experience, I got pretty good at spotting behavioural patterns, even specific phrases certain people would repeat almost like a mantra. It was like their personal dictionary - a dictionary of narcissists. They tried so hard to hide it all that they just ended up tangled in their own lies. Which, for me, was a definite advantage.
Oh, lovely moon! I long for you to illuminate them, to reveal their true selves. Place a mirror before them to shame them forever. I wouldn't have to feel this embarrassment for them, a feeling they've always seemed to lack.
Countless nights, I've gazed at your golden glow, your full and crescent phases, yearning to share my sorrows and whisper my worries to you. I knew I could count on you to listen without judgment and help me figure out what to do. I was terrified back then, afraid I'd somehow mess up your perfect, life-sustaining schedule for the world. Now, after all this time filled with frustration and uncertainty, I'm ready to tell you everything, all the messy details you've always wanted to know.
Please write back as soon as you can.
