A poem to a long lost friend

One day so long ago, it seems

You entered softly into my life

Young and filled with doubting dreams

My heart was racing, full of strife

Don’t go again, my lovely friend

At last, I’ve found what I’ve been seeking

You are my light, forever gleaming

The road is long and unknown for us

But still, it might work, despite the fuss

.

You find yourself in your own space

And grow with worth that’s truly yours

Unequal paths mark our embrace

No longer close, we’ve shut the doors

Come back again, my lovely friend

At last, I’ve found what I’ve been seeking

You are my light, forever gleaming

The road is long and unknown for us

But still, it could work, despite the fuss

.

Alone among the many here

Shaken and changed, I feel astray

Life rushes on, I’m gripped by fear

A shell encloses me, keeps me away

Help me escape, my lovely friend

Now we have found what we’ve longed to see

The chains are possible to set free

The road is long and unknown for us

But still, it will work, despite the fuss

Your pain comes through in your words Henrik. I loved how you grounded your story with the equivalent of a chorus. :)
