To the one with Silver Rings and Perfect Tea
I don't know where you've gone; I hope you're at peace.

Do you regret asking my name?
Saying hello to me
with your ever-seeking gaze?
Part of me believes I saw a change in you-
a change in your eyes.
Crumbling the barriers segregating
the patron
from potential
friend,
admirer,
Perchance- affair?
Part of me wishes I could remember
because then I would ask if you remembered it
too.
Part of me wishes I could feel that again,
because I would ask if you regretted that,
too.
Do you regret memorizing my drink order
with all its logic
and all its variants?
Chai for comfort.
A Fog for focus.
Jasmine when everything was
just
right.
Do you regret learning these things?
My name
My order
My secrets and writing-
even my number?
I don’t regret meeting you.
Because for a moment
My mornings were sweet.
The muses sang
and words would flow,
and I had perfect tea.
But perhaps of all things I could regret,
is telling you my deepest fear.
Someone leaving without saying
goodbye…
And now you’ve gone and
disappeared.

I love that even though heartbreaking, it told a story and I loved the pace, the imagery and the way you brought us back to the first day.
