To The Moon

The light of the night

To my travel companion, the overseeing moon

I see you every dark morning as I travel to work

Sometimes you are small and sometimes large

Your light guides me as I travel all the roads ahead

You keep on changing throughout the nights

From super moons to just the smallest sliver

Occasionally an eclipse will hide your presence

You send a spectacular sight shining bright

Though no picture will ever truly show

The beauty of your ponderous glow

I turn to stare at the sun’s lights reflecting

Sometimes you show even when the sun is in the sky

Others are almost hidden in the clouds above

Each night you appear in all your glory to love

As I follow your light throughout the early morning

I can see each phase, beautiful each day
