To Say Goodbye

The Battlefield

By Hayden M HodgesPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

As I stood with sword in hand

And darkness covered light

My weakened knees hit the sand

As I fell broken, from the fight.

Breath lost across the battlefield

Flames crawling toward my face

I see my love I've no choice to yield

In my heart, a quickened pace.

Her axe swings hard and true

As she makes her way to me

A ferocious clash she's ran through

Alas too late, for my soul is free.

I see hear cry and see her tears

She screams why did you die?

She knows it was her only fear

We never said, goodbye.

I can no longer touch you love

Not like I did before

But know I see you from above

My devotion yours, forever more.
