Time cruelly dismembers created things
All mortal beings will face their demise
Our task is diligent remembering
Those who forget will never join the wise

Relativism seems harmless enough:
Each with their own truth; nothing objective
But poisonous ideas we must rebuff
Fascism lies, from every perspective

Cults of personality, blood or soil
Conspire to make enemies of all
Who differ from ourselves, yet we must toil
To prevent civilization's grim fall

Do not be polite with fascist ideas
Remember those who held high the aegis

The grim fall seems harder and harder to prevent lately, but thanks for this timely and beautiful reminder. Well said.
Your poem fuses moral clarity with poetic craft. The steady rhythm of the sonnet form reinforces the duty to “remember” and resist complacency.
A timely reminder, D.J.
Very timely (like all your work). I especially loved the way the poppies broke up the stanzas, it really added to emotional depth.
This was so deep and true. Loved your poem!
