TO LOVE SOMEONE

To love someone long-term is to attend a THOUSAND funerals of the people they used to BE.

The people they’re too exhausted to continue being.

The people they don’t recognize inside themselves anymore.

The people they grew out of.

And the people they never ended up rowing into.

We so badly want the people we love to get back their spark when it burns out, to become speedily found when they’re lost.

But it is not our job to hold anyone accountable to the people they USED to be.

It is our job to travel with them between each version of themselves and honour what emerges along the way.

Sometimes, it will be an even more luminescent flame.

Sometimes, it will be a flicker that disappears and temporarily floods the room with and necessary darkness.

LOVE is NATURE NOT telling the APPLE to be like the PEAR.

It is NATURE NOT telling the TIGER to be like the BEAR.

LOVE is NATURE NOT ‘expecting’ the chick to become a hen – it is alright if doesn’t.

LOVE is ABUNDANCE saying:

YOU CAN BE WHATEVER YOU WANT

‘CAUSE I HAVE ALL IT TAKES TO HANDLE EVERY TYPE, EVERY VERSION OF YOU. Uddie.
