To buy a handbag
Designer bags on Oxford Street

To Buy A Handbag.
Brightly coloured handbag displays
The smell of leather styled so many ways.
Designer brands, our favourite thing,
Sales to be made, tills set to ring.
Tourists are browsing with money to burn;
Picking up, putting down, every bag they will turn;
Until they find the style that will suit,
It must go with a dress, it must match those new boots!
So making their way to pay for the bag;
‘Would you like it gift wrapped and shall I remove tags?’
Asks the glossy assistant, as she deftly assists;
The thought of commission, that she’s not going to miss!
She is courteous and helpful as she recommends
A purse to compliment, more money to spend.
I observe from a distance this transaction with glee;
I hope she’s not thinking, she’s coming to me..
As she looks across with a well trained eye
I turn on my heel, ready to fly, out of the door in a hasty retreat
I cannot afford to spend on smart Oxford Street.

Bags are the criminal of my existence. I end up with a new one, every time I shop! I certainly think they are way over-priced in some shops, though I loved this poem which describes my experiences of bag-buying
Oh a nice experience!
