For a long time I wanted to be yellow
I tried to become it
I tried to become sunshine
The light in the room
But I always had trouble connecting with people
I could never find my complimentary colour
All of the violets in my life passed me by with unwavering indifference
And the reason for this is simply because I was never yellow
As beautiful and bright as they are
Their shades never belonged to me
I’m more of a light pink
Sensitive and soft, inquisitive
And it’s okay if some colours don’t compliment me
Because I finally found one that does
My complimentary colour
If the light hits just right
Specks of green flash in his eyes
