"HERE YEE! HERE YEE!
Punk is dead! Punk is dead!"
They Paul Revere along the way
It was kinda cute to pretend
It was ever living
Punk, What does punk mean to me?
In school, they ask the same about liberty.
And both are the same, or hold parallel meanings
Liberty: Every living persons right to life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. So long as it doesn't inflict upon the liberty of another.
Punk: What happens when we suppress that. It's a 'SCREW YOU' to an over stepping government, sexism towards men and women, racism, manipulated capitalism, stereotypes and norms.
It's the ultimate act of rebellion!
Uh... maybe?
Maybe, not...
When there is a costume you must dawn
To prove you're in their likes
I have to wear certain shirts?
Buy in to expensive aesthetics?
And I guess that hive mentality must exist everywhere
Even places invented just to avoid it
"Punk is dead." They said.
But I don't think it was ever alive
when weird artsy punk bands
were given the side-eye
When only philosophers behind the music
Can appreciate something a little outside the culture
It's strange how many artist strive to aim for originality
When it's often the last among the accepted
"Punk is dead"
"Poetry is dead" They said
Well- in that case, was it ever really alive?
