For the Vocal Acrostic Challenge

By Dalma UbitzPublished 8 months ago Updated 8 months ago 1 min read

Another go at D.K.'s challenge.

Huge thanks to her once again for creating it, and warmest congratulations on making an impact. We wouldn’t have seen the recent Leaderboard announcements from Vocal without her efforts.

Readers: be sure to check out the Vocalite Manifesto series and see the legacy she’s left behind!

Over the Thoughts

Crossing my mind,

Afraid of falling in

Love

Been thinking a lot about this album.

As life changes and people grow up, the music stays the same.

The orange of this cover mixed with Frank Ocean's channel and blonde got me in all the right feels.

I think of sophomore year, where a boy first made me a playlist including these songs. He wouldn't be the last. As the days, playlists, and boys went by, transforming into years, memories, and men, I still think about the risk we all took, and whether we looked both ways when we crossed each other's mind.

Do we still?

DAAAANG. The last few lines about whether or not we look both ways before crossing each other's minds... as if it is the person we are thinking of that enters into our mind intentionally rather than our accidental thought of them. There's so much to unpack there... Really lovely. [Prize 4/5]

There's a powerful and beautiful simplicity to this! A very well-explored bit of imagery with an emotional punch!

So very true...best to avoid it if possible.

  • We are often too afraid to express what we feel. Well said!

    nice writing

  • The words and choice of music go so well together 💗

  • Some great thoughts and words and more music to listen to

  • "whether we looked both ways when we crossed each other's mind." That line was soooo poetic! I know it isn't part of the poem but that's my favourite!

Loved your acrostic and your postscript. It's good to look back on where we were with what we know and are now.

  • Interesting, thought-provoking, memory-invoking poem & song, Dalma.
