Times of a Pendulum
Poetry reflecting on world conflicts.
We live in a time, where our intellect and pride
Have become larger than life.
They escape our bodies, govern our souls
A person has parameters to be judged upon
From religion to race, an identity covers it all.
It's not as easy as you think
Segregating good and bad won't do the thing
There is diversity in good and diversity in bad
Imagine the yin and yang of every tint.
Every eye has seen its reality.
Oppressed when saved aren't satiated when peace negotiates
They don't get back what they had lost
Time surely passes but wounds seldom heal.
After failed hopes and continued injustice,
They rise after years to break what they had concealed
At that time a small spark becomes enough to ignite a fire
Foreign eyes then speak
"Oh what do you want now, why can't you accept peace?"
Morose eyes reveal "We are avenging our dawn's loss!"
They are labelled as destroyers and are supposed to cease off.
Well, each eye has its own truth.
It fades with time but never vanishes
Violence is not the answer,
Yet, trauma never stops questioning.
"Innocent are the ones that are pulled into a tug of war."
If they want to break free, they aren't innocent anymore?
It's a vicious cycle where the oppressed becomes an oppressor
Eventually forgetting the root that caused the heat
People in power continue to fulfil their desires and
New reasons are found to continue the cycle
Swinging in extremes- a hopeless pendulum
It's the intolerance which divides
And is unique to humans.
