Timeless
An accompanying poem to a recent article i wrote
Have you stopped and thought about time?
In here my two cents I'll chime
Truly bizarre, the concept of time
Its existence undeniable and mysterious
Abstract and imperious
Forever hazy behind the cover of life
-
Did you know we use Cesium?
To standardise our measurement, a medium.
To count the seconds and minutes
To count to the end of life’s limits
But does it matter what we use?
As the only beings who can set the rules
Self-serving from inception, not the truth
Of what time is, or why it rules
-
Decay is set as we lose energy
Going through life and eventually lethargy
Sets in and we call it aging
Every atom in our body changing
From state to another and we count
The time it takes to dismount
The train of life, and the constant bout
With decay, or time.. Now that is profound
Is time decay, and we simply keep count
Or is time still mysterious, we know nothing about?

Author's note: i recently wrote an article about time and my thoughts on it. I started thinking that following up articles like those with a poem is quite a nice idea, because it makes me think of a different approach to relay the same essential message, which i think is a nice challenge. Of course i can't include everything that is in the article, so if you want to check it out, the link is below.

Self-serving from inception, not the truth. That line holds so much truth! I really like the idea of following up your articles with poems!
Another intriguing piece, Mohammed. It's interesting to consider how time relates even to how we interpret the rhythm of your poem. You've succeeded in sparking thoughts about the whole concept of time again.
Nice work, Mohammed!
Your line second to last was very profound 🧐
