Time runs out each year

I need to leave a mark to prove I was here, and I lived

Time runs out each year

In shadows cast by dreams once bright,

I wander through the silent night.

I trace the steps of paths untaken,

In whispers soft, my heart is shaken.

When did my laughter fade away,

Lost in the echoes of yesterday?

With each missed chance and sigh, I mourn,

The dreams like petals, sadly torn.

I sought the stars, yet missed their glow,

Chasing shadows, I let them go.

In love's sweet arms, I turned, but fell,

Lost in the stories I couldn’t tell.

Yet here I stand, with heart exposed,

Embracing all the paths I chose.

So through the echoes of my plight,

I’ll seek the dawn to bring me light.

For though I stumbled, I still believe,

There’s beauty still in what I’ll achieve.

Although time is fading, each year,

I have to leave a mark to say I was here.
