Time-out

Tomfoolery

Some of you need a time-out

What with all the tomfoolery you get up to

All of you really should be grounded

Because of those shenanigans

Back in my day, you’d been taken to task

For stepping out like you are

I mean, you’d been whipped with a switch

For your temper tantrums

At the very least, you guys should have a stern talking to

For the things you have been doing

Come near, sit a spell, and listen to tales of old as I sit and rock by my fire. I'll serve you some cocoa and cookies as I tell you of the time long gone by when your Greats-greats once lived.

    Good advice

  • This is so true! I would never dare speak to my parents the way kids nowadays speak to their parents!

Whatever happened to speak softly and carry a big stick? I know my father had one in his arsenal.

I forevermore will say this poem in my head everytime I have to go out in public and see how parenting skills differ from how and when I was reared and I reared my children....pardon the pun, but some rears still need a switch!
