Time In A Bar

Laughing In A Bottle

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Sweet tears and memories are all that we have

I ’d trade countless pennies

To get some of them back

Found somewhere in a catalog,

Pinched the pages to save it

Thought I could have it all

Healing this inner conflict

All the while time sits laughing, at our plans in a bar

With Healed wounds and Band-Aids

Handmade trophies and scars

I lost my sun to your shade

Fell for your make believe stars

Promised wishes and dreams

Hopeless games that we played

Threads tugged at the seams

Tattered, torn and frayed

The moon rises no matter

Hold on to what you got

Win or lose, you’re the potter

And you can’t get those things back

Wow. Lovely and melancholy. Nicely done. Time indeed does laugh at our plans made in a bar.
