Tiffany Sky

near encounter at an outdoor festival

By Cindy DarlingPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

a memory plays in my mind today

quite literally

not intruding, but dancing through my thoughts

like a summer breeze brushing gently against the leaves

making them whisper soft laughter as it tickles them

remembering, I feel as much as see

sitting on a well worn blanket in the soft air

the sun floating just above the horizon

not still day

not yet evening

alone in a crowd, as ever, as always

taking time to simply breathe and

watching clouds that flutter like layered chiffon

when I hear a voice, look up

and suddenly

there you are

your eyes echoing the fading blue of the sky

the breeze teasing your hair

touched with glinting silver

and a laugh that touches my soul

our glances meet and we

smile into each other’s eyes

with nearly a sigh

as if it’s been forever

the crowd intervenes but

our eyes follow each other still

until you turn

other voices call you

dew kissed grass slips beneath my feet

as I stand, alone in the crowd once more

watch as you walk uphill into a Tiffany sunset

knowing that even when you are gone

you will be here

laughing in my memories

close to my heart
