Ticking Through Time

Freeverse in Reverse (read down and then back up)

By Louise SpathonisPublished 5 months ago 1 min read
The Sunflower Wall - memory remade.

Ticking through time

In my mind

Stuck

Forgotten

Never to be

Remembered,

The sunflower wall.

Resting by the kitchen window,

In a tin

The scent of freshly baked cookies,

Now replaced with

Musk.

With Pa’s magic beeping button head

Nan’s untouched flower bed or

The cheeky children playing in

Pa’s rustic green backyard paint shed

The pirates lost parrot

The worn-out clown

Nans old pink night gown

Who could forget…

In the fabrics of 87 Cedar Street

Friendly footsteps and little feet

Bouncing from wall to wall.

The echoes of the tocks and ticks

From the kitchen down the hall.

Bursts of laughter and everlasting smiles

Replaced with

An eerie silence.

Now back up we go. (read back up to the top)
