Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.

This is so good. I am actually reading it differently when I picture different angles. When read straight, I see it as a person in a relationship mirroring the other person, not actually communicating what they want, being a pushover, being a non-individual. When read like the river is just a river, it becomes about the viewer seeing the truth of their existence reflected back at them. When viewed as the river mirroring the viewer, I see it as the river morphing to their desire, reflecting what they WANT to see, rather than truth. Good? No, masterful.
