Through the Flowers
Day 66/365
I look through the wishes
of aging dandelions
and see the blue jay's return
to his roost
on the dogwood tree.
He perches like a sentinel
a security guard
ever watchful over his territory
in the blooms.
-
I look through the spikey
white petals of clovers
the soft whisps sprouted from luck
and see a bunny rabbit
soft and brown
emerge from her burrow
lean from winter's slumber
and ready to feast
on the bounty of spring.
-
I look through the colorful
ovals of tulips,
the stars of daffodils,
and ring the bells of snow drops
to bear witness to a kaleidoscope
of Earth coming back to life
stretching with new growth
and yawning with returning bird song
life begins anew everywhere
what a wonder to see life
framed through the flowers of spring
