Through the door of sleep.
I will meet him there.

What is sleep?
What is it for?
Is it a pathway to open a door;
To some strange land that’s so far away,
Where we can visit at the end of our day;
When eyelids are heavy and our breathing is deep,
This door is opened only by sleep.
I’d like to enter this magical place,
Feel the sun on my back and the breeze on my face.
I’d see loved ones and friends not seen for a while,
Greet me they would, with a wave and a smile.
And take me by the hand and say;
‘You are only visiting, you cannot stay.
This oasis is only for people who leave
The mortal world, they forget how to breathe.
But you are different my little one,
You need to continue under the sun,
You must run, and laugh, cry and breathe,
You can only stay here when you finally sleep.
For now you must be glad to stay for a while,
And to see your Love with his lopsided smile.
You can stop right now and have a nice chat,
But when morning comes, you have to go back’.
So I sit here, waiting for sleep to come
Then I can visit my love, in that place in the sun.
