We were burned and crushed

Left to decay on our own

But, we didn’t die

We struggled to breathe

To cleanse our lungs of harsh smoke

But, we didn’t die

We were sprayed and hosed

Called Ruined, Lost, and Damaged

But, we didn’t die

We will always thrive

Sowing faith keeps us alive

Through ash, we still grow…
