Thoughts On Forgiveness

Forgiveness and Function are One

By David MuñozPublished 3 years ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

The lessons, coming fast and furious now, are undeniable.

Spirit-inspired, insistent whispers making themselves known in the oddest of places, meeting me where I need be met.

Memes on the 'Gram. Graffiti wisdom on abandoned commerce shells. The heartbreak of a Twitter follow doing crying yoga after midnight.

Guidance from a Higher Intelligence, telling me the answers to my questions come from a simple place, that I am supported, loved, worthy. I always have been. A child's survival tactics fooled me into thinking otherwise.

Can't blame that boy. How could he have known any better?

Those patterns no longer serve me. Yet they are wrapped tight as tree root above ground, restricting my soul from expanding to its rightful place.

And all I have to do, the Spirit whispers, is forgive. Forgive the wound makers, forgive the erroneous conclusions drawn from that pain, petition forgiveness for that which hurt others. Forgive myself.

Simple answers, difficult choices. Do I know how to forgive? Am I worthy of being forgiven? Can I give up the harsh familiarity that's walked with me so long?

And if I do, what will be left of me in the aftermath? Will I recognize that naked new soul?

To which the Spirit replies: Leave all of that to me. Do your work, let me do mine. We will meet in the life you create from that new freedom.

Forgive, petition forgiveness, forgive myself. The mantra of my life's next act begins.
