Thoughtless flowers

A poem

I thought we were growing together

But it looks like I grew and flourished

And you started to wilt.

Since you left, we swapped roles

I’m shrinking each day, struggling to find the light.

You seem to be sprouting.

Getting stronger and healthier .

It’s not fair, I wasn’t shading you,

I never stopped you growing.

Our pot was too small to contain us

Our roots tangled

We needed a whole garden to flourish.

A place where we could spread out

But you were too scared of big changes

Too scared of new land.

You waited too long, you got overwhelmed .

So you smashed the pot to pieces.

And left me without its protection

While you planted yourself somewhere new.
