Love transforms
From cool curiosity
To warm intrigue
To hot venture
And a steady tease
We hold it,
Hot to touch
Feeling the flash
Feeling the rush
From inward discovery
To outward sharing
To inward caring
And outside pairing
We bring together
What is a private need to delve
To a trust of we, ourselves
A trust of each other
In all we give
That produces a love
In a child for which we live
In all time and all test of us
We nurture it all
In our love and trust
Love transforms the way we know
Not in lack or loss of glow
Our love transforms
The way we need
In that it builds and feeds
On how we are
And how we grow
So that our love will ever glow

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
