Those closest.

The shivering chill, the constant thrill,

The touch of winters disdain,

The spirit contrite, the constant frights,

The striving all in vain,

But then, I gaze upon those,

Who mean the most despite,

For then I start to suppose,

I can endure no matter how dark the night.

It's not the things you have,

That make the place alright,

It isn't the job you obtain,

That makes all things well despite,

It isn't what you covet,

That fills your heart so whole,

It's those you've been blessed besides with,

That inspire the flames of the soul,

I gaze upon the artic storm,

And it's easy to despair,

To forget all around me,

With how much others care,

Yet I remember all the good things,

That have already come to past,

And remember that although my hope is deferred,

That we'll endure, no matter how long this may last,

It's not the things you have,

That make the place alright,

It isn't the job you obtain,

That makes all things well despite,

It isn't what you covet,

That fills your heart so whole,

It's those you've been blessed besides with,

That inspire the flames of the soul,
