I am like a thistle amongst roses
Standing out a like a sore pulsing purple thumb
The green stem is ugly and spiny
Compared to the roses’ complex woody green bark
Forest green bark interweaving together as they climbing to the top
Differentiating in astounding colors:
Reds, Whites, Pinks, Yellows, Burgundies, Mosses, Oranges, Pale Peaches, and Purples
Protected by their beige-tan thorns
Draining each other’s nutrition
People enjoy those stunning, vivid flowers
Roses are unlike me
Pale roots grounded deep into the brown almost black soil
Growing straight toward the orange-yellow blistering sun
Blossoming a magenta afro on top
Pulling fluffy magenta flowers out of the soil is most common
Most think of it as a weed
Some cherish this simple purple flower
Using the medicinal purposes
Seeing the translucent yet opaque flower as a garnish
Beauty of the magenta
Underappreciated is the thistle
