This Year
Keeping it surreal

This year, I’m mixing up
the holidays, like you
messed up my head. I’m
giving thanks on Halloween,
bringing chocolate hearts
to Thanksgiving dinner.
I’ll declare my independence
on Christmas Day,
scare you to death on New Year’s
Eve, deck the halls
on the Fourth of July,
lavish my loved ones
with gifts on Groundhog Day,
and make you see
your shadow
on Valentine's Day.

I did like this a lot. Surreal but with a grounding to it. Well done lass. Do I get a curtsey?
Surreal definitely... those last 2 lines though... they turned it dark! Nicely done. 🥂
⚰️☠️🎃🍭You always bring so much wonder and magic to your writing. 💌This time you want to mix up the holiday and call someone out on their bs. That's an effective blend. 🎄I could see that the chocolate hearts to Thanksgiving, was a foreshadowing of the last few lines. 🐗I really love the idea of someone seeing their shadow on valentine's day. I must admit. This one is one of my favourite of yours so far. Completely unforgettable 🤗❤️🖤👌🏾
