This Message Is For You
It’s time the world sees your debut
I have a message for you.
I can't see what you’re going through.
I can't say that I know you
or what it is to wear your shoes.
With injustice, we all lose.
I won’t be silent. I refuse.
Each of us has power to choose.
To be the change for something new
be the bold among the few.
Ones standing side by side, who
will shout loud, “We stand for you!”
We purge out prejudice views,
no one has the right to abuse,
We speak out against taboos,
Surely we are not so askew
for a societal renew.
I ache for what we can’t undo.
Past pain a permanent tattoo.
Maybe we can be the glue,
Wake up! This is our cue!
Kindness is not hard to do.
You are worthy! Do you know it’s true?
You’re enough, because you’re you!
Not due to the street where you grew
or the job you might pursue.
It’s time the world sees your debut,
It’s time the world sees you for YOU!

I met Jason when I was five years old. I could say that I loved him from the moment I saw him. He was so handsome to me and I felt in awe by his presence. When they introduced him as the new kid in school, I wanted to be his friend right away. I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember his smile and how he didn't seem shy. He appeared confident and ready to learn. I waved at him and said "hello," before anyone else could even say a word. He sat next to me, and I asked him if he wanted to be friends. He looked so happy as he said, "Yes!"
