This Little Light of Mine

If it wasn't for her,

I would live within consistent down pours.

Just like the calm before a raging storm..

gusts of guilt placing heavily with in my heart

Endless fear defiling my mind...

Fear etched within my once so porcelain skin.

This awful itch never to be satisfied..

these eggshells perfectly placed beneath my feet.

Negatively affected my mind for years,

Only to give into my deepest pain every night.

Unknowingly holding the closest being,

These Big Emerald eyes and furry black feet.

Yet Darkness has washed over me...

Drowning me in a vast ocean of sorrow.

Tearing at my very throat, gasping any shots of air.

Leaving my consciousness within a void of despair

For Sudden visions lead me back to her..

These never ending waves crashing upon my chest,

She lays on me knowing it'll pass.

With a gentle tongue she licks my hand,

Keeping me from slipping again..

Soft Little vibrations echos the room

Finally jolting me away from the abyss.

Confused and sore, I hold her so..

For someday, I'll survive this horrendous storm.

So Patiently she waits by my side,

Cleaning the wreckage within my heart.

From now to the end of time

She'll be a little light of mine.
