This Fool's Journey

A Poem

By Tyler Clark (he/they)Published 8 months ago 1 min read

cheap truth ≠ wisdom

I make mistakes that out me as the fool

I am, dancing on a ledge,

ambition barking

at my heels. Death

waits at the end—no gambit

can save me. Gracefully,

I walk on,

pin a flower to my lapel,

enjoy the journey. No matter what

new lessons

I learn,

the best way forward is always one step at a time.

So relatable: “I make mistakes that out me as the fool”. It’s humble and reflective, words written as a lesson. Ending with growth as life’s goal was a pleasant uplift.

It's this line that makes it for me: "pin a flower to my lapel" Such a great metaphor for looking on the bright side - best foot forward and all that.
