This Disgusting Beach

I'm a born swimmer
Here on this disgusting beach
With all of you
For now, I guess
Your names?
Never mind
You don't want to tell me
I might remember
What if we just want to feel safe
And so, we put up with the filthy ocean
We can still swim
Most of the time
As long as we stay close to shore
The worst of it is out there
Far away
Which is to say
Close to another disgusting beach
We are their elsewhere
Most of us, idiots
Fish in the sand
Trying to forget
How to swim

This is an odd, humble entry for Gabriel's ingenious challenge:

Excellent poem & take on the challenge. Reminds me of NIMBY weeds & pests😵💫🥺 (Not in My Backyard)!
Brilliant, D.J.!! I love your take on the challenge, and this is a stellar entry! Thanks for joining in, and for your kind words :)
Well done! Yeah, most of us are idiots indeed.
It’s always interesting to think of us as another’s “elsewhere”
Excellent ideas here. I’ve not seen the challenge yet. Also much better than Finding Dory!😄 Nemo all the way, then your poem of course.
This was super deep
Oooo, that was soooo deep! Loved it!
Are the people disgusting too, or just the beach, lol. I love your line Most of us, idiots! Lol ha! Great poem!
