reaching without

hands

running without

strength

talking to the sun

without

words...

I wander

without

direction

or cause

or purpose

I float with

atmospheric

ease,

weaving through

motionless

objects

in a sky

without clouds...

a halo

calls

my name,

shouts to

my soul,

energizes

the

amphitheater

of grandeur

resulting

from an

interpretive

dance of

thought...

I feel

robust

I feel

significant

I feel alive...

I drink

the essence of

appreciation

until I'm

effervescing

with joy

I don't know

where I am

I don't care

where I am

it

all

feels

so

right...

like

visiting an old

friend

with renewed

zest and

zeal...

I open

my yawning

eyes

I stretch

the fading

memory as it

dwindles away

in the

creeping,

morning

light...

it was just a

dream...

a

beautiful

i l l u s i o n...

this was a beautiful journey. i read it thru a sort of political lens the first time because the title made me think of that old patriotic song, "this land is your land." loved the twist in my mind on the promise of america/the american dream being an illusion. the second read opened the interpretation up for me more and i could see a warm invitation to wander with you. so i did. "like visiting an old friend" ❤️

Wow! This right here! “I drink the essence of appreciation until I'm effervescing with joy.” The way you put words together feels so effortless, beautiful, and profound.

  • A delightful dream… far more pleasant than when you’re relieved it’s just a dream.

    Wonderful ♦️💙♦️

  • This makes me think of "Eyes Wide Shut". The vivid landscape of the dream replaced by the mundanity of real life.

Very nice! Honestly, my dreams can be so weird sometimes, but also nice. In other words, this was kinda relatable. Great job and congrats on the Top Story!

Oooooo, I love this!! I never have time to write the minute I wake up so I always have to jot stuff down immediately instead 😅 Congrats on Top Story, Lamar!

  • Back to say congratulations on your Top Story! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊

Clearly writing just after waking up works for you! This was amazing! I'm struck by how you let the words hang. Each one had its moment on the page. The whole tone is so ethereal and dreamlike too. Amazing job! Congrats on the Top Story!

Oh, this felt like a drifting sort of journey that ended suddently, just like dreams do when you wake. Loved the part about feeling like visiting an old friend. Sounded like a lovely dream :)

This is beautiful and ethereal and Wiggins at his most stripped bare(emotionally, lol, any pervs that thought I meant something else should keep their minds out the gutter) and beautiful. I am so glad you did write within those crucial 2 minutes and produced this fine peice of poetry. Wondrful work, my friend. Congrats on Top Story.

This is a fabulous poem, Lamar. I love nature and you captured how I feel many times. So glad you put pen to paper right away. One I had in my head drifting off the other night has escaped me…for the moment! Great work!!

Glad you put pen to page (or fingertips to keys) instead of going back to sleep! Such a surreal and entrancing piece!

  • Atmospheric ease and yawning eyes, I especially loved that!
