Things that brought me comfort

Moments of my life that I felt comfortable

By Haitao RanPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

Never ever until this day,

My memory is so soft, that I felt my heart pray.

Things which I have lost, that were never meant to be true,

Buries so deep in my thought, until my blood flows through.

.

My childhood have me felt like yesterday,

Was full of wonders, where souls touch and play.

“Be careful when playing with that kid,

A neighbor got hurt because of what he did.”

To be afraid of, made me feel secure,

It felt comfortable, but also a scar uncured.

.

Back in the day, when my daughter was still a young angel,

She used to laugh big and think little.

I was once afraid of her getting a boyfriend,

In case of her being too naive, she could end up in the wrong hand.

Not until the first time I saw my son-in-law,

He was a decent young man but not without a flaw.

We frequently gathered, and chatted over beer,

I felt comfortable and released,

from a parental burden that I would no longer have to bear.

.

Now I woke up every day fresh and retired,

Sat around the stove beside a radio, I stared.

My grandchildren were running around laughing and scared,

I could not help to tilt my head around and around, until my neck got tired.

I felt so comfortable and relieved,

And appreciated all the moments that I had lived.
