Things I Can't Do

A poem about the fight between your head and your heart.

By Aliana Le FleurPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I can't handle your judgement right now

I can't love cause I never learned how

And I can't hold you in my arms

Cause your words set off alarms

I can't tell you that I want you

Cause I'm too afraid to try

I can't tell you that I need you

I'm terrified you'll say goodbye

There are so many things I can't do

Don't even know the reasons why

You don't know all that I've been through

But at least you're one to try

To understand these walls

And roam these halls

To look me in the eyes

And see past my disguise

To hold my hand all night

Call me up right after a fight

And to say you're wrong

When I've been wrong all along
