If I was up at night and wide awake
Would I hear the sound so soft, so faint
Of the thief outside my door?
If I could see the world so dark, so dazed
Behold lightning flash from black to blazed
Would I still be blind at my core?
If I tried to steal away his mission
By taking stance as opposition
I would be more blind than before.
So when the thief does come, cloaked in the night
I will not take up the arms to fight
Surrendered, falling to the floor.
Being swept up and taken in that theft
To where pain and sorrows have all left
The moment of tremendous awe.
Now face to face I gaze upon this thief
Full of joy and certain with relief
I’m home eternal, evermore.
